Senator Robinhood Padilla advised President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to take his hands off the proposed Constitutional amendment.

This was after the president said that the charter change proposal was not part of his administration's priority.

"Pagdating po sa Saligang Batas, I'm sorry Mr. President, wala po ito, hindi nyo po ito pwedeng saklawan," he said during an interview in DZRH Dos Por Dos with Anthoy Taberna and Gerry Baja.

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Constitutional Amendments and Revisions of Codes also clarified that he agreed with Marcos' statement citing that charter change shall be under the Senate.

"Tama po 'yung sinabi niya, dahil sumusunod po ang ating mahal na pangulo sa Saligang Batas na wala sa mandato ng pangulo ang makielam sa pagbabago ng Saligang Batas," he said.

For economic provisions

Though he approved amending the Constitution, he clarified that this was only for economic revision and would not be into political revision, including term extension.

His only priority was to liberalize economic provisions by giving access to foreign investors in the country.
