

MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Foreign Affairs, through the Philippine Embassy in Yangon, has successfully facilitated the relocation of 15 Filipinos in Distress as of Thursday, 03 April 2025.
In its advisory posted on its official social media accounts, the embassy announced the transfer of the Filipinos, who requested to be relocated to safety, after the devastating earthquake that hit Myanmar on March 28, 2025.
“The embassy extended its appreciation to all those who contributed to the relief efforts through various forms of assistance,” it’s advisory stated.
Meanwhile, the embassy mentioned that it remains open to receive requests for assistance from Filipinos in distress who are affected by the 7.7 magnitude quake that hit the country.

Reports say that the death toll due to the earthquake has already breached the 3,000 mark as rescue and recovery efforts are still ongoing, particularly in Mandalay, the hardest hit city in Myanmar. Hundreds still remain missing.
Regarding the rescue and recovery mission for the four missing Filipinos, the Philippine Embassy said that the Assessment Team will meet with members of the ASEAN Emergency Response and Assessment Team (ERAT) in Mandalay to support efforts at the Sky Villa building.
“The Philippine Embassy in Myanmar and the Department of Foreign Affairs Office of the Undersecretary for Migration Affairs (DFA-OUMA) have engaged the National Bureau of Investigation Disaster Victim Identification Division (NBI-DVID). Preparations are underway for their deployment to Myanmar to assist in the identification of victims,” the DFA stated.
“Those in Mandalay in need of assistance may reach out to the ATN hotline at +959985210991 or contact their designated Filipino coordinators,” the DFA added.
The DFA assured the affected Filipinos and their families that they will extend all the assistance and support that they can give in securing their safety, as well as search for those who are still unaccounted for.
“Our hearts are with the Filipinos who were affected by this calamity especially the families of those who remain unaccounted for. In these trying times, we stand together as one community,” the DFA said.
