President-elect Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. has named former Philippine Airlines (PAL) president and chief operating officer Jaime Bautista as the next secretary of the Department of Transportation (DOTr).
This was confirmed by incoming executive Secretary Vic Rodriguez on Thursday.
Bautista, who will replace current Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade, retired from the PAL in June 2019 after 26 years of working for the flag carrier.
Aside from Bautista, other personalities that will also be part of the DOTr in the incoming administration are as follow:
- Former LRTA Deputy Administrator Cesar Chavez as DOTr Undersecretary-designate for Rails
- Lawyer Cheloy Garafil as Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Chairman-designate

In an interview with DZR's Dos Por Dos, Bautista shared some details of his talks with Marcos, one of which is transforming the transport industry of the country into a global standard.
