Following consecutive cases of flooding along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) has directed the San Miguel Corporation (SMC) to clean the drainage and sewage systems in the area, as part of the ongoing construction of the Mass Railway Transit 7 (MRT-7).

In just one month, significant flooding has occurred, causing major traffic and stranding both commuters and motorists.

The Quezon City Engineering Office has issued a report that the major flooding just only happened now and is caused by the debris from the MRT7 project.

Meanwhile, according to the SMC contractor, massive cleaning operations are being conducted for the inlet and outlet of the drainage systems. SMC assures the public that garbage blockage in all drainages will not happen again to avoid potential flooding in the area.

As of this writing, rain in Quezon City remains, and in all other parts of the National Capital Region (NCR).
