The Pinagkaisang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operator Nationwide (PISTON) welcomed the support shown by other sectors to the one-week transport strike.
PISTON national president Mody Floranda shared that the protesters received food from the public on Monday, March 6, the first day of the transport strike.
"Maraming mga mamayan ang nagpadala ng pagkain. Hindi naman nagutom yung ating mga kasama kahapon," Floranda said on Tuesday, March 7, during DZRH's Dos Por Dos.
"Ang ibig sabihin lamang nito ay yung pagkilos natin ay hindi lang pagkilos ng mga driver at mga operator. Ito ay pagkilos ng mga mamayan kaugnay sa usapin ng Omnibus Franchising Guidelines," he added.
Transport groups, led by PISTON and Manibela, started the transport strike in protest of the national govenrment's public utility vehicle modernization program.
The groups plan to continue with the transport strike until Sunday, March 12, but Manibela chairperson Mar Valbuena said that they could extend the protest if the government will not act on their demands.
