Transport group Manibela on Monday started its three-day protest to call for another year to extend the Public Utility Vehicles (PUV) consolidation set last April 30.
According to RH Edniel Parrosa's report, around 600 members of Manibela participated in the said protest held in five areas in Metro Manila.

Manibela chairperson Mar Valbuena earlier said that the unconsolidated jeepneys did not violate laws due to the valid franchise given by Congress.
Furthermore, the transport strike was initiated to inform the government that they plan to have a modern jeepney prototype with the help of the Department of Trade and Industry and local jeepney manufacturers.
The transport strike is scheduled from June 10 to 12, 2024.
Manibela earlier said they anticipate around 25,000 members to join their three-day protest.
Jeepneys are being consolidated as part of the government's Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program, which calls for drivers and operators of jeepneys to form cooperatives or risk having their permits canceled.
To reduce pollution, the PUVMP was launched in 2017 and seeks to replace jeepneys with vehicles that at least meet Euro 4 emissions regulations.
