Taal Volcano has logged four volcanic tremors in the past 24 hours, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said Wednesday.
In its 8 AM bulletin, PHIVOCLS said the tremors lasted for two to five minutes.
"In the past 24-hour period, the Taal Volcano network recorded four (4) volcanic tremor events having durations of two (2) to five (5) minutes and low-level background tremor has persisted since March 29, 2022," the agency said.
PHIVOLCS added that the Taal main crater “was dominated by upwelling of hot volcanic fluids in its lake which generated plumes 1,500 meters tall that drifted southwest.”
The volcano emitted an average of 4,474 tonnes of sulfur dioxide on Tuesday.
On Saturday, PHIVOLCS put Taal Volcano under Alert Level 3 following a series of "short-lived phreatomagmatic bursts."
More than 5,800 individuals have been evacuated from their homes due to the recent activity of Taal as per the Batangas Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).
