Coinciding with Bren Esports' impressive eight-game win streak, the gold laner Stephen “Super Marco” Requitano stole the center stage in Week 5 after earning another Razer Gold-MPL Philippines Press Corps Player of the Week averaging 5.17 kills and 5.33 assists throughout the week.
He helped his team defeat the defending M4 World Champions ECHO PH with his mastery on marksman hero Claude, while his snowballed Karrie shredded the Orcas in the final game of the series.
Super Marco's impressive performance also interrupted Omega Esports' attempt to rise from the ashes.
The latter was defeated after falling 0-1 through the efforts of Super Marco's Beatrix, adding damage output and teamwork with Bren's roamer Rowgen "Owgwen" Unigo and jungler Michael "KyleTzy" Sayson during crunch time, which is regarded as the Barangay's peak times.
"Ano lang po siguro sa instinct ko. Tsaka hindi ko alam e, hindi ko alam kung paano ko nagagawa iyan, pinipindot ko lang yung joystick ko," Super Marco said.
While he was named Player of the Week for Week 5, teammates Angelo Kyle "Pheww" Arcangel, Owgwen, and KyleTzy were also in the running for the title; with the former finishing third and the latter two serving as honorable mentions.
Edward "Edward" Jay Dapadap of Blacklist International came in second, while Tristan "Yawi" Cabrera of ECHO PH was also featured among the honorable mentions.
Super Marco, who also won the award back in Week 2, is set to receive his second Razer Blackshark V2 of the season courtesy of Razer Gold.
The weekly citation is decided and deliberated upon by print and online media covering the MPL PH beat, as well as the league’s broadcasters and operations team.
