The end of an era.
After five successful years in the competitive scene, Blacklist International has announced its departure from the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines.
The multi-titled Codebreakers made their pro-scene exit official on Tuesday, sharing heartfelt messages of gratitude to their loyal supporters, the Agents.
"Though we believe in the future of the MLBB community, with a heavy heart, we bid a bittersweet farewell to the Blacklist MLBB men’s team, as the organization has decided to transfer our MPL Franchise Ownership to a new organization for MPL season 15," Blacklist International said in a Facebook post.
"This difficult decision was made in response to the business opportunity that was presented to us which aligns with the new direction of Tier One Entertainment to go beyond Esports," the team added.
Blacklist International expressed openness to a potential comeback to the league in the future, emphasizing their intent to reassess their standing in the competitive landscape.
Moving forward, the organization is set to focus on enhancing its existing rosters across its active titles.
Blacklist International also expressed heartfelt gratitude and admiration for the MLBB players on their MPL roster, commending them for dedicating their heart and soul to the game while competing under the organization’s banner.
"As one story ends, so begins another. Regardless of the future, we will always be proud of our past, and the stories that we had together will remain in our hearts forever," they added.
"After making the difficult decision to sell our slot in the MPL, it's time to say farewell, and to thank you all for making Blacklist International what it is today," Blacklist International said in a separate post.
Blacklist International’s MPL team proudly represented the Philippines in various competitions, particularly on the global stage, playing a significant role in establishing the country as a dominant force in the esports scene.
The team secured multiple championship titles in MPL Philippines, including victories in Seasons 7, 8, and 10.
Furthermore, they also finished as runners-up in Seasons 11 and 12, and placed fourth in Seasons 13 and 14.
On the International stage, the team showcased their prowess, taking home the M3 World Championship crown, finishing second in the M4 World Championships, and securing a third-place finish in the M5 World Championships.
Ultimately, they also represented the Philippines at the 31st Southeast Asian Games in 2022, where they secured a gold medal.
