Street Dancers from Iloilo City are getting excited to bring their extravagant Dinagyang Festival to Manila for the upcoming Aliwan Street Dance Competition.
The Dinagyang Festival of Iloilo, which has become one of the regular participants in the Aliwan Street Dance Competition, is getting ready to show its culture and values through dancing, according to Joyce Clavecillas, Executive Director of Iloilo Festivals Foundation and Incorporated.
"100 percent ready na po ang ating contingents ng Dinagyang festival... so mamayang gabi po Aalis na kami ng ilo ilo, Lunes ng umaga nandyan na po kami sa manila para makapagensayo na po sila at makapagpractice sa darating na streetdance competition," said Clavecillas during an interview in DZRH.
Clavecillas revealed that since May, they have run practice every day to give the best performance in the competition.
She also noted that the new costumes and props will give new flavors to the audience.
"Story lines talagang pinaghandaan at pinag isipan talaga ito. Mas gusto naming iparamdam yung values naming mga Ilonggo," she said.
"Interms of concept,alam naman po natin na dinagyang may bagong pasabog every time they perform during Aliwan Fiesta," she added.
The last Street Dance competition happened in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic, where Dinagyang Festival got 3rd place.
The Street Dance competition is one of the most anticipated events at Aliwan Fiesta.
The competition and parade will happen on July 15, Saturday, at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Grounds, Pasay City, Manila.
