A fire erupted in a residential area at the corner of Santol St. and Ramon Magsaysay Avenue in Sta. Mesa, Manila, on Saturday morning, July 5.

In a report by DZRH intern Mildred Cumilang, firefighters and emergency responders rushed to the site, blocking parts of Santol Street and causing heavy traffic in surrounding areas.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the fire was first confirmed at 9:31 a.m. and was immediately raised to the first alarm by 9:34 a.m.

Due to the area being crowded with houses made of light and easily flammable materials, the fire spread quickly and intensified, reaching the third alarm just minutes later at 9:45 a.m.

Around 10:30 a.m., the fire was declared under control and was completely put out with the help of a sudden heavy rainfall.
