Several local government units have suspended classes due to the high heat index forecasted by the state weather bureau PAGASA.
Roxas City, Capiz
Roxas City Mayor Ronnie Dadivas announced in a Facebook post the suspension of face-to-face classes from pre-school to senior high school today, April 1.
According to him, there would be no classes due to the forecasted 41 degrees Celcius heat index.
He noted that face-to-face classes may resume "once the heat index is below 40°C."
Meanwhile, the Roxas City mayor said head administrators in college institutions shall decide on whether or not classes will be suspended.

Bacolod City
Mayor Albee Benitez declared a two-day suspension in Bacolod City, citing PAGASA's forecast that the heat index in the city will hit 41 degrees Celsius on April 1 and 42 degrees Celsius on April 2.
The suspended face-to-face classes shall shift to online.

Tantangan, South Cotabato
Mayor Timee Torres-Gonzales signed Executive Order No. 34 ordering the suspension of afternoon classes in Tantangan, South Cotabato from April 1 until April 15.
Schools are directed to shift to blended and alternative learning modes.

Negros Occidental towns
In separate advisories, face-to-face classes have been suspended at all levels in public and private schools in the towns of E. B. Magalona and Isabela in Negros Occidental today, April 1, and tomorrow, April 2.
Classes, however, continue online in E. B. Magalona.
