

Tropical Depression “Emong” has intensified into a typhoon, the PAGASA said.
In its 8 AM tropical cyclone information outlook released on Thursday, July 24, the state weather bureau announced that “Emong” (international name: Co-May) has intensified into a typhoon which is being monitored within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
The typhoon was located 220 km West of Dagupan City, heading south southwest at a slow pace. It has maximum sustained winds of 120 km/h ang gustiness up to 150 km/h.
In a previous update, “Emong” was seen moving southeastward across Luzon. Its center was spotted 245 km west northwest of Bacnotan, La Union, with maximum sustained winds of 110 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 135 km/h.
Signal numbers one to three were also raised in several parts of Luzon because of the typhoon's intensity.
Meanwhile, the PAGASA said that Tropical Storm "Dante" is still being monitored within the PAR, and was located at 735 km East Northeast of Itbayat, Batanes.
