Tropical Depression Kiko has officially exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), according to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Thursday, September 4.

As of 5 AM, PAGASA said no tropical cyclone or low-pressure area is currently being monitored within the country’s boundary.

Despite this development, the southwest monsoon, or habagat, remains dominant and will continue to bring rainy weather, particularly over Luzon and the western section of the Visayas.

According to PAGASA, there is a high chance of rain today in Batanes, Cagayan, the Ilocos Region, the Cordillera Administrative Region, as well as in Zambales and Bataan. Metro Manila will likewise experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers.

The rest of the Visayas and the entire Mindanao region are expected to encounter localized thunderstorms, usually occurring in the afternoon or evening, which may result in brief but heavy downpours.

PAGASA also reminded the public that the country remains under habagat season, which means sudden rainfall can still be experienced, especially at midnight to dawn.

The weather bureau confirmed that no Gale Warning is in effect over any of the country’s seaboards, making sea travel generally safe for now.
