Heads up, theater fans! The hit and well-loved “Ang Huling El Bimbo” (AHEB) musical will be returning to the theater stage with a new cast next year!
In a press release, its producer Newport World Resorts’ Full House Theater Company (FHTC) announced that the AHEB musical will run starting April 2023 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City.
AHEB musical enthusiasts can expect familiar faces as the original cast members will take the spotlight once again.
These include seasoned thespians, Gian Magdangal, Gab Pangilinan, and Topper Fabregas who will reprise their lead roles as the adult Hector and young Joy, and young Anthony, respectively.
Other cast members reprising their roles are Jamie Wilson as Sergeant Banlaoi and Sheila Francisco as Tiya Dely.
Meanwhile, the new members that will complete the lead cast lineup are veteran recording artist and music producer Nino Alejandro who will play adult Anthony, Indie folk artist Bullet Dumas as adult Emman, and voice teacher Katrine Sunga as adult Joy.
Also part of the lead cast is Gawad Buhay award-winning theater actor Paw Castillo as young Emman and rising singer and GMA Network’s “The Clash” grand finalist Anthony Rosaldo will play young Hector.
Directed by Dexter Santos and written by Dingdong Novenario, the AHEB musical features the songs of the Filipino 90s rock band the Eraserheads.
It follows the story of three friends Hector, Emman, and Anthony who reunite after receiving calls that their long-time friend Joy has passed away.
The three reminisce about the joys and sorrows of their youth.
The musical was first staged in July 2018 and had 100 successful shows since then.
