The Traslacion, bearing the holy image of Jesus Nazareno, officially began at 4:41 a.m. on Thursday. The procession will make its way from Quirino Grandstand to the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno.
Prior to the start of the procession, a Misa Mayor or midnight mass, officiated by Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula, was attended by around 70,000 devotees.
The Traslacion will follow its traditional route, passing through various streets, city roads, and bridges in Manila before arriving at Quiapo Church.
Previously, Quiapo Church issued official reminders and guidelines for devotees participating in the Traslacion to promote safety, maintain order, and uphold the solemnity of the celebration.
The church administration reminded devotees that climbing onto the carriage to see the image is strictly prohibited. However, the throwing of handkerchiefs, as part of tradition, is still allowed.
