The Department of Health (DOH) has assured Traslación attendees of its vigilance in monitoring their condition, and issued health-related reminders for their benefit.
“Mahigpit pa ring binabantayan ng DOH ang kalagayan ng mga deboto habang papalapit ang Poong Nazareno pabalik sa Minor Basilica at Pambansang Dambana ng Mahal na Poong Hesus Nazareno ngayong gabi,” the health agency said in a press release on Thursday.
(The DOH is strictly observing the conditions of devotees as the image of the Jesus Nazarene nears the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of the Beloved Lord Jesus Nazareno this evening.)
Their records indicate that until 6 PM, 332 consultations have been conducted at medical stations posted along the procession route. Some of the most common cases include wounds (76 cases), headaches and nausea (74 cases), high blood pressure (54 cases). Up to 17 patients were sent to the hospital.
DOH advised devotees to drink plenty of water, eat nutritious food, and rest after the event to keep the body in good shape.
“Patuloy na magbabantay ang DOH hanggang sa maayos na makauwi ang ating mga kababayan na lumahok sa Traslación,” the statement read. “Kasama ang ating mga katuwang na ahensya, kami ay handang magbigay ng tulong sa anumang uri ng medikal na pangangailangan at emergency.”
(The DOH will continue to keep watch until our countrymen who participated in the Traslación return safely home. With our partner agencies, we are ready to provide assistance for any sort of medical need or emergency.)
Lastly, it reminded that hospitals will be under the Code White Alert until January 10 to ensure all medical personnel and facilities in the national capital, Central Luzon, and CALABARZON are capable of swiftly responding to health-related incidents and emergencies.
