U.S. Pop star Sabrina Carpenter was recently entangled in a religious controversy after a parish priest got stripped of his duties for allowing the former to shoot her “Feather” music video inside a historic church.
“We got approval in advance,” she told Variety in an interview on Wednesday, Nov. 29, recalling the day of the shoot.
“[A]nd Jesus was a carpenter,” Carpenter added.
Monsignor Jamie Gigantiello, the parish priest of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Brooklyn, was earlier relieved of his administrative duties following Carpenter’s music video.
Gigantiello posted an apology on Facebook, stating that he allowed the production to “further strengthen the bonds between the young creative artists who make up a large part of this community and the parish.”
He added that he wasn’t knowledgeable of the scenes that would be filmed in the church, and claimed that it was a “lapse in judgment.”
