President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. has named Richard ‘Dickie’ Bachmann as the new Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman.
The Office of the Press Secretary (OPS) confirmed Bachmann’s appointment on Wednesday, Dec. 28.
Bachmann was the former Alaska governor of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).
He is currently serving as the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) commissioner and PBA 3x3 chairman.
Bachmann will be replacing Jose Emmanuel ‘Noli’ Eala who was tapped as PSC chairman last August.
In a statement posted on his Twitter account, Eala confirmed his departure from PCW.
“My brief stint in the PSC gave me an opportunity to serve with passion in a field I hold close to m heart. With all humility, I can say that I gave dignity and respect to the position of Chairman and worked tirelessly for Philippine sports," he said.
Eala thanked Marcos for the opportunity he gave him to help the Commission “rise to greater heights.”
"I serve under the pleasure of the president and I fully respect his decision. I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all our sports leaders who gave their unwavering support," he said and added that he also wished the new chairman all the best.
"As I leave, I am at peace knowing that in the months I served, I cared for all our athletes and Philippine Sports like no other," Eala further said.
