The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) has appointed Paulo Francisco Tatad as its new Executive Director.

His appointment was disclosed by PSC chairman Richard Bachmann in a press conference on Friday morning.

"For PSC to go to the next level and for us to serve the athletes and the sport, we made some changes. I added a new executive director for PSC," Bachmann told reporters.

"Now that we have a complete lineup, we can move forward and serve the athletes in all sports," he added.

Tatad will be succeeding Guillermo Iroy Jr., who is now the Deputy Executive Director.

Before entering the world of sports, he earlier worked for the corporate sector.

"When the chairman interviewed me for this, he shared his vision for the PSC. With sports being a passion, this opportunity is something that is too good to pass up," Tatad remarked.

He is the son of former senator and Press Secretary Francisco "Kit" Tatad.
