National athletes and coaches will receive an additional P5,000 in their monthly allowance starting August, according to newly appointed Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman Patrick “Pato” Gregorio.
The increase will apply to all national athletes and coaches, including those currently receiving as low as P10,000 per month.
Gregorio made the announcement during a general assembly with National Sports Associations (NSAs) at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila. He said the adjustment will cost the PSC around P10 million and asked lawmakers present for continued support.
The PSC will also resume procurement of tracksuits, reopen cafeterias at Rizal Memorial, Philsports Arena, and PSC Baguio, and set up a new 24/7 help desk for athletes. Daily Time Record (DTR) processing will now take five days.
Gregorio also confirmed that the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) for the Philippine Sports Training Center have been approved.
