Tropical Storm Queenie has weakened into a Tropical Depression but it would continue to bring rains over Caraga and Davao Oriental, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Tuesday, Nov. 1.
In its 11 am weather bulletin, the state weather bureau said Queenie was downgraded due to unfavorable environmental conditions, adding that it will continue to weaken and become a remnant low within 12 hours.
The center of Queenie was last tracked at 490 km East of Davao City or 425 km East Southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, and is moving westward at a slow speed.
Its maximum sustained winds weakened to 45 kilometers per hour, while its gustiness declined to 55 kilometers per hour.
Light to moderate with at times heavy rains are expected to prevail over Caraga and Davao Oriental today.
“Under these conditions, flooding and rain-induced landslides are possible, especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazard as identified in hazard maps and in localities with significant antecedent rainfall,” PAGASA said.
The state weather bureau warned that moderate to rough seas may prevail over the seaboard of Mindanao which could be risky for small seacrafts.
According to PAGASA’s forecast, Queenie will continue to move westward while moving over the Philippine sea, east of Mindanao within the next 12 hours.
