PSA website encounters glitches on first day due to surge of National ID applicants
by Christhel Cuazon02 May 2021

The website of the Philippine Statistic Authority (PSA) on Friday, April 30 experienced a glitch following the surge of applicants on its first day of online registration for the national identification card.

“We received more than 40,000 registration requests during the first minutes of the pilot launch. This caused delays in the sending of the one-time passwords necessary to proceed with the registration,” PSA said in its advisory.

“We are urgently looking into the issue and updating the website to resolve this technical challenge,” it added.

As of posting, the website is still up, however, PSA has yet to announce when will it function again.

According to PSA, the first of three steps to obtain a national ID involved the collection of demographic data such as full name, sex, date, and place of birth, blood type, permanent and present address, as well as citizenship.

This first registration step was conducted house-to-house starting October last year in 32 pilot provinces.
