The Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) will file additional administrative charges against a police major accused of sexually assaulting a male cadet inside the academy’s barracks in Silang, Cavite, on July 31.

In a report of RH Edniel Parrosa, according to an official statement, the PNPA confirmed that the suspect is now under “full custody” of the law and had earlier been charged with a criminal complaint before the Silang-Amadeo Circuit Municipal Trial Court.

"An administrative case will be filed by the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) against the said personnel," PNPA wrote in a statement.

The academy described the incident as an “isolated case” but assured the public that it would tighten the screening and review process for personnel assigned to the institution. It added that the male cadet-victim is now receiving psychological support.

"As the victim continues to receive psychological support, the PNPA appeals for the protection of his privacy," PNPA added.

Initial reports revealed that the cadet, who was already in an isolation facility awaiting final clearance for release from the academy due to an undisclosed matter, was invited by the suspect to drink.

The police major then allegedly requested a massage before committing the assault.

The complaint was initially filed as acts of lasciviousness, but the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) is considering classifying it as rape — a charge that could result in the suspect’s dismissal from the service.

"In light of this incident, the Academy is taking decisive steps to strengthen its internal mechanisms, including the tightening of vetting procedures for all personnel assigned to PNPA. Rest assured, this is an isolated incident, and the institution does not—and will never—condone such acts," the statement read.

The PNPA said investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances of the alleged molestation.
