Philippine Red Cross Chairman (PRC) Richard “Dick” Gordon said they are ready for Traslacion 2024, having deployed over 1,000 volunteers during the procession.
“Naghahanda tayo taon-taon. Anywhere from 2 to 10 million people will attend. Nakakatakot, nakakabahala dahil maraming tao,” Gordon said in an interview with DZRH.
The PRC chair said aside from the volunteers, they also set up 20 field emergency centers.
“Kailangan laging nakaalalay ang lahat. We have over 1,000 volunteers na nakakasa diyan. We have about 20 field emergency centers na pwedeng puntahan,” he added.
Gordon also shared that they placed 50-bed capacity and ambulances around the area.
“Meron tayong emergency field hospital, may 50 bed capacity on the ground. Nagkalat ang 17 ambulances tsaka 20 ambulances around Metro Manila. Pero within Manila sa Traslacion, may nakaalalay na 17 ambulances at lahat ng taong nakasunod may 1,000 volunteers tayong nakahanda diyan,” he said.
Gordon also noted that they have been guarding the feast of the Black Nazarene flow, having boats prepared along the river, and volunteer first aid responders for support.
“Binabantayan natin lahat ang takbo. May boats tayo sa ilog. Nakaalalay ang mga volunteer natin na first aid responders,” he added.
