President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. has directed all government agencies to set the standard in conversing energy and minimizing power consumption after the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said that the Luzon Power Grid will be placed on red and yellow alert status.
In a statement, Marcos said that he has already instructed the Department of Energy (DOE) to closely monitor and coordinate with all stakeholders to address the power supply situation.
"At this time, it is crucial that we all work together to ensure a stable power supply for the next couple of days. Let’s adopt energy-efficient practices and stand together to overcome this challenge," the President said.
On Wednesday, the NGCP placed Luzon and Visayas grids under yellow alert.
A yellow alert is issued when the operating margin is insufficient to meet the transmission grid’s contingency requirement while a red alert status is issued when a power supply is insufficient to meet consumer demand and the transmission grid’s regulating requirement.
