President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. visited Barangay Bulusan in Calumpit, Bulacan, on August 15, 2025, to inspect the Rehabilitation of the River Protection Structure, a ₱96.4-million flood-control project built by St. Timothy Construction Corporation.

The project is one of the largest in the province, while St. Timothy ranks among the top three contractors out of 15 companies handling similar projects nationwide.

From July 2022 to May 2025, the government completed 9,855 flood-control projects worth ₱545 billion, including 668 projects in Bulacan valued at ₱6.5 billion — despite the province not being officially listed as a flood-prone area.

The visit came after the President raised concerns over alleged irregularities in government flood-control programs.

Marcos’ inspection

During the inspection, Marcos expressed disappointment over the project’s condition, saying it has brought hardship to local communities.

“St. Timothy ang kontratista dito. Kailangan pasagutin natin bakit ganito ang ginawa nila,” he said.

“Mas mabuti pang pumunta sila rito makita nila gaano kahirap ang buhay na binigay nila sa mga kababayan natin.”

During the President’s inspection, it was revealed that the beams are not properly connected to the sheet pile support.

Meanwhile, the Palace recently launched the Sumbong sa Pangulo website, a platform for the public to report on the state of flood-control projects in their areas.
