The new EDSA Ayala Busway station in Bay One at the One Ayala building is officially open to the public, ahead of the holiday season.

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Ayala Land Inc. led the inauguration of the station on Friday, Nov. 18.

The new EDSA Ayala bus station will serve southbound buses as well as private utility vehicles (PUVs) and modern jeepneys.

It can accommodate an estimated total of 300,000 passengers daily, DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautista said in an interview with reporters.

"This Busway Station clearly depicts a scalable transport infrastructure that will support the mobility and connectivity needs of commuters. With the Christmas Season almost upon us, we expect this busway station to alleviate the holiday rush travails of commuters," he said.

The terminal is equipped with restrooms, queuing areas, reserved seats for persons with disabilities (PWDs), senior citizens, and pregnant women, and it also has bike racks for cyclers.

Passengers headed northbound have now access to the McKinley-Ayala footbridge which directly connects to the second floor of One Ayala Avenue (OAA).
