President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has pressed various agencies to fast-track priority projects, prompting a cabinet meeting on Thursday, May 15, said Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon.
“Napag-usapan lang ‘yung mga kailangan nating gawin. Kailangan, sabi ng pangulo, kailangan bilisan natin ang mga kailangan nating gawin para sa mga kababayan natin. So nag-meeting nga ang ibang cabinet members, para pag-usapan kung anong mga programang priority na kailangan, bilisan pa natin,” Dizon said in an ambush interview.
Many of the cabinet members were in attendance, Dizon said, although some were not available.
(We talked about what we need to do. The President said we must hasten what needs to be done for the sake of our countrymen. So several cabinet members held a meeting to discuss which programs must be prioritized and expedited.)
While the transportation secretary did not specify which projects these would be, Malacañang reporter RH 14 Leth Narciso reported sighting Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla, Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian, and Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sonny Angara.
