Former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief PGen. Nicolas Torre III has expressed his support for the large-scale protest against corruption set to take place on Sunday, September 21, 2025.
In a public statement, Torre urged Filipinos to unite and make their voices heard through peaceful demonstrations rather than violence.
"Galit na ang tao sa korupsiyon. Sawang sawa na rin tayo sa panlilinlang," Torre said.
"Bukas, sa mga rally, ipakita natin ang lakas ng taumbayan—at gawin natin ito nang maingat, responsable, at mapayapa,” Torre said.
He stressed that genuine reform stems from solidarity and civic responsibility.
According to Torre, citizens must take a stand against government malpractice and express their grievances without resorting to aggression. He emphasized that silence in the face of wrongdoing only perpetuates corruption.
"Ating tandaan, ang tunay na pagbabago ay hindi nagmumula sa karahasan, kundi sa pagkakaisa,” he added.
"Ako po si Gen. Nicolas Torre III, kasama n’yo laban sa korupsiyon at pang-aapi," he concluded.
Torre is currently on leave from August 28 to September 29, following his removal as PNP chief on August 26, 2025.
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. earlier confirmed that Torre was relieved of his post for failing to observe the chain of command and for defying directives from the National Police Commission (Napolcom).
Despite his dismissal, Malacañang has previously indicated that Marcos offered Torre another position in government.
The September 21 protest is expected to draw thousands of participants nationwide, marking another wave of public outcry against alleged corruption and mismanagement in government.
