Military and police operations apprehended a member of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army (CPP-NPA) on Saturday morning, positively identified by the Philippine National Police as the most wanted NPA rebel in Negros.

According to a press release from the Philippine Army's 62nd Infantry Battalion (62IB), the suspect is Jerry Montefalcon (alias Ka Bulhot), 49, married, and a member of the NPA's Central Negros 1.

Under a search order, he was apprehended by 62IB troops and Canlaon City police in Sitio Anatuling, Barangay Budlasan, Canlaon City.

Montefalcon is the subject of various warrants issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 64 in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental, including murder and illegal possession of firearms, ammunition, and explosives.

There was no recommendation for bail.

He was also involved in several harassments and liquidations of CAFGU Active Auxiliary and civilians in Moises Padilla and La Castellana in Negros Occidental, as well as Guihulngan City and Canlaon City in Negros Oriental.

According to Lt. Col. William Pesase, commanding officer of the 62IB, the arrest of Montefalcon demonstrates the battalion's unwavering efforts to "hunt down the remaining NPA members who have killed innocent and unarmed civilians in central Negros."
