Eleven members of the New People’s Army (NPA) have surrendered to the police in the Caraga region, the Police Regional Office-13 reported.
Authorities identified the rebels as “Tuman,” “Aga,” “Maring,” “Mar” and “Weweng,” “Erik,” “Jonas,” “RD,” “Gabriel,” “Wendi,” “Lonmar,” and “Ramly.”
All of them surrendered their illegal firearms such as shotgun, rifle grenades, a caliber .38 revolver, a .357 revolver, a grenade, and bullets.
Meanwhile, PRO-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Kirby John B. Kraft commended field units for swiftly attending to the needs of the rebel returnees.
“I commend the efforts of our police officers in negotiating with the former rebels to abandon the Maoist ideologies and in bringing them back to the government's fold,” she said.
PRO 13-Regional Public Information Office (RPIO) chief Police Major Jennifer S. Ometer said that surrenderers will undergo processing to enable them to avail of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program.
