Manila Mayor "Isko Moreno" Domagoso and Dr. Willie Ong hosted their proclamation rally at the Kartilya ng Katipunan on Tuesday, February 8, both running under the banner of the national party Aksyon Demokratiko, for president and vice president respectively.
During the event, the party's three senatorial candidates – Samira Gutoc, Carl Balita, and Jopet Sison – also announced their candidacies.
Willie Ong, a vice-presidential candidate and physician-focused on COVID-19 and claims that once the pandemic is handled, everything else would fall into place.
Ong's pandemic strategy includes free testing and increased funding for facilities that serve the poor.
Moreno, on the other hand, encouraged supporters during the gathering not to be trolls disseminating false information online.
"Pwede tayo maglaban pero magalang. Wag tayo magtatapang-tapangan sa mga hidden account," said Domagoso, as campaign period officially starts. "I get things done. I listen to specialists. I listen to good people with good intentions. We find ways to get things done."
All national post aspirants have 90 days to campaign to their constituents from February 8 to May 7, 2022, as election day is set on May 9, 2022.
