Former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso responded to Mayor Honey Lacuna's recent statement about feeling "betrayed" and her claim that "there is no coming back".
"Peace be with you… I’ll see you soon," Domagoso said when asked by reporters about Lacuna's remarks.
"Basta lahat ng gusto ng kapayapaan at kapanatagan, welcome po kayo sa amin," he added with a laugh.
Domagoso and his running mate Chi Atienza accompanied re-electionist Manila First District Rep. Ernix Dionisio in filing his candidacy at the Comelec- National Capital Region office in San Juan City on Thursday.
Earlier this week, Lacuna expressed her disappointment, stating that she felt "betrayed" by Domagoso.
According to her, the two had previously discussed his plans before he ran for president in 2022. Lacuna said Domagoso had assured her that if he lost the presidential race, he would retire from politics.
"Definitely, I feel betrayed, because when he bid farewell and ran for president, it was very clear to us, to our party, that if he didn't get lucky, he said he would retire," Lacuna said.
When asked about the possibility of rekindling their political partnership, Lacuna stated it was "impossible."
"Wala po eh, very clear talaga ‘yon. In fact bago siya umalis ng Maynila, pinagbilinan pa niya kami ni Vice Mayor Yul Suervo," Lacuna said.
Lacuna, who was Domagoso's vice mayor, succeeded him as Manila’s Mayor when he decided to run for president in the 2022 elections, where he ultimately lost.
