A man known by the alias “Junjun” was arrested on the evening of April 5 for the killing of a Belgian national in Barangay Cabinuangan, New Bataan, Davao de Oro.
According to DZRH provincial correspondent Jhun Suter, the victim was identified as Marc Van-Cutsem, 67, who was found lifeless in his rented apartment in Purok 3, Barangay Andap, New Bataan on April 5.
The Davao de Oro Police Provincial Office reported that the arrest took place around 8:00 p.m. during a joint operation conducted by the New Bataan Municipal Police Station and the Davao de Oro Provincial Intelligence Unit, in coordination with barangay officials.
The suspect was immediately taken into custody and is currently detained at the New Bataan MPS detention facility.
Meanwhile, police investigators are finalizing the necessary documentation for the filing of a murder charge through an inquest proceeding at the Provincial Prosecution Office.
