Makati to sue Gwyneth Chua, other parties involved in quarantine breach
by John Dexter Tilo07 January 2022

Makati City said on Friday that it plans to take legal action against Gwyneth Chua, dubbed as "Poblacion Girl," who left her quarantine hotel to join a social gathering and infected several of her peers.

Atty. Don Camiña, Makati's legal officer, said they will file a case against Chua and to those involved in her quarantine breach, though he did not mention them specifically.

"Kakasuhan din namin si Miss Gwyneth and all parties involved kasi para rin po mapakita sa kanila na hindi naman din tama na dahil sa mga nangyari ay wala silang parusa," he told DZRH on Friday.

(We will sue Miss Gwyneth and all parties involved to show them that it is not right that they will leave this without any punishment.)

"Kailangan din po natin maturuan ng leksyon para rin po yung ibang mga tao na balak gawin 'to or ginagawa na yung ganito - ireport lang po sa amin para rin maaksyunan natin," he added.

(We need to teach them a lesson so other people who plan to do this, or already doing this, can be reported to us so we can take action.)a

The legal action will be filed on top of the case from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group - National Capital Region (CIDG-NCR).

The CIDG sued Chua, her parents Allan and Gemma Chua, her friend Rico Atienza, Berjaya Hotel resident manager Gladiolyn Blala, assistant manager Den Sabayo, security manager Tito Arboleda, security officer Esteban Gatbonton, and front desk staff Hannah Araneta.

Chua's parents were charged after security footage revealed that it was her father who picked her up from the quarantine hotel before being brought back by her mother to the establishment on Christmas night.

Criminal charges were filed against them for violating the Republic Act 11332 or the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act.
