The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) reported on Monday, January 3, that seven individuals tested positive for the 2019 Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) after getting into close contact with Gwyneth Chua.

Chua, an overseas Filipina who came from the United States, became infamous after authorities discovered that she broke quarantine protocols and went to a bar in Poblacion Makati City last December.

DILG Usec. Jonathan Malaya said that Chua, or Poblacion Girl as netizens call her, had 15 close contacts after she left the hotel, where she was supposed to have undergone quarantine.

Malaya also said that one of the 19 secondary contacts of Chua also tested positive for the said respiratory illness.

"So, talagang naging superspreader event iyong paglabas-pasok nitong si Poblacion Girl sa kaniyang quarantine hotel," Malaya said during the Laging Handa press briefing.

Per reports, Chua checked in at the Berjaya Makati Hotel on December 22, and she went to a bar on December 23 before she tested positive for COVID-19 on December 27.
