Incoming Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) chief Trixie Cruz-Angeles on Thursday said she changed her mind about the Marcoses following the resurfacing of some of her critical tweets against them in the past.
Several netizens had pointed out some of the lawyer's previous tweets years back wherein she criticized President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and his family's ill-gotten wealth.
However, in a briefing on Thursday, Angeles explained that she changed her mind about it and already had discussed these with Marcos Jr. himself.
"We have talked about it, I'm a vlogger and we have talked about it extensively on the vlogs, we have conducted several lives about it, and I've told my story about how and when I changed my mind about it," Angeles said.
"So that's it, that's pretty much it. Aren't people entitled to change their minds? I think evolution is a natural thing even in our consciousness," she continued.
In the same briefing, Cruz-Angeles also clarified that her role is not as Marcos' spokesman but as press secretary.
"Hindi po ako spokesman, ako po ay press secretary. Ang trabaho ko ay magbigay ng media briefings kung mayroong kailangan i-clarify doon sa mga statement ng ating Pangulo or President-elect then maari po along tanungin tungkol doon," she said.
The Marcos camp earlier said Cruz-Angeles' primary task is to oversee the operations of the PCOO, which includes the conduct of regular press briefings.
