The House Tri-Committee may recommend the disbarment of former Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Chief Atty. Trixie Cruz Angeles due to her continued refusal to attend the committee's invitation to address the issue of fake news and disinformation.
In a report by RH Milky Rigonan, Angeles has repeatedly ignored the committee’s summons to appear regarding the matter.
The manifestation was read by Abang Lingkod Partylist Rep. Joseph Stephen Paduano and was supported by the committee.
According to Paduano, as a lawyer, Angeles should set an example by complying with the law.
Angeles was previously suspended as a lawyer in 2016, with another suspension following in 2023.
Meanwhile, the House Tri-Committee has also issued subpoenas and a memorandum to compel vloggers and social media influencers to attend the committee's next hearing.
More than 40 vloggers and influencers have been invited by the House Tri-Committee.
