The Highway Patrol Group (HPG) will bolster its patrols along Marilaque Highway after a fatal accident involving two riders who reportedly collided while racing and doing a "Superman" stunt.

In a report by RH Edniel Parrosa, Highway Patrol Group (HPG) spokesperson Lt. Dhame Malang stated that additional personnel from Laguna, Cavite, and Quezon will assist the Rizal Highway Patrol team.

In an interview at Camp Crame on Tuesday, Malang acknowledged that the Rizal PNP lacks the manpower to effectively patrol the 115-kilometer stretch of road that extends from Marikina to the surrounding provinces.

In light of this, HPG Director PBGen. Eleazar Mata has reportedly reached out to local municipalities for assistance, particularly in managing the perilous 'devil's curve' section of the road.

The HPG implemented this measure following the fatal accident of a rider who was performing a motorcycle stunt on Marilaque Highway.

Furthermore, the said incident marks the thirteenth road accident this year on Marilaque, a well-known route for riders and motorcycle enthusiasts.

Following the series of accidents, calls are intensifying in the Senate to impose a ban on using Marilaque as a race track.
