More police patrols have been deployed along Marikina-Rizal-Laguna-Quezon (Marilaque) Highway following a viral motorcycle accident that led to the death of a rider.
According to Edniel Parrosa's situational report during Damdaming Bayan on Wednesday, the Highway Patrol Group (HPG) from Laguna, Cavite, and Quezon have assisted the Rizal Highway Patrol team to monitor the so-called "Devil’s Highway."
Police officers have also established a new outpost in the area.
Riders are being reminded to slow down and practice safe driving.
The increased police presence comes after an accident last week, where a motorcyclist named John Louie Arguelles died after being hit by another motorcycle he was racing against.
According to HPG records, there have been a total of 13 road crashes in the area since the start of 2025. Last year, the highway recorded 158 accidents.
Meanwhile, the Senate is now calling for stricter regulations to prevent the highway from being used as an illegal racetrack.
