The House Quad Committee cited Mylah Roque, the wife of former Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, in contempt for her failure to attend the past three hearings.
On Friday, October 11, Roque was cited in contempt over her failure to attend the Committee’s investigation on crimes related to the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) in the country. Surigao del Norte Rep. Ace Barbers noted that Roque was also invited to two hearings. However, he said that the Committee did not receive any response from Roque.
Abang Lingkod Rep. Joseph Stephen Paduano moved to cite Roque in contempt, which the Committee approved. Additionally, Antipolo Rep. Romeo Acop moved that an arrest order be issued against the former spokesperson’s wife.
“May I respectfully move that because Madam Mylah Roque has been cited in contempt by this committee, may I move that we also move to issue an arrest order,” the Antipolo Representative said.
A show cause order was issued against Roque in the previous hearing due to her repeated absences. Her husband was known as the legal counsel for the raided POGO hub in Porac, Pampanga, Lucky South 99.
In a Facebook post last September, Roque called Barbers “abusive” for linking her as an incorporator of the raided POGO hub in Porac, Pampanga.
The same panel were also the ones who cited the former spokesperson in contempt and declared him as a fugitive. However, the attorney denied being a fugitive despite the issuance of an arrest warrant against.
