Attention, witches and wizards, the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry has found its new Harry, Ron, and Hermione!
The highly anticipated news was announced on Max’s Facebook page late Tuesday, stating that the main ensemble had finally been casted.
“Dear Mr. Potter, Miss Granger, and Mr. Weasley: We are pleased to inform you that you have a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry,” its caption read.
The HBO Original series, “Harry Potter,” named Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.
The main cast members are largely newcomers in the industry. McLaughlin had acted in “Grow,” an upcoming comedy on Sky.
Meanwhile, Stanton starred as Matilda in “Matilda: The Musical” on the West End from 2023 to 2024. She also appeared in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s play, “Starlight Express,” as the narrator.
For Stout, however, the upcoming series seems to be his first major role.
In a press statement, HBO expressed its gratitude to the thousands of children who auditioned and shared that they can’t wait for the world to witness the trio’s magic together onscreen.
“After an extraordinary search led by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are delighted to announce we have found our Harry, Hermione and Ron. The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen,” its statement read. “We would like to thank all the tens of thousands of children who auditioned. It’s been a real pleasure to discover the plethora of young talent out there.”
Apart from the three cast members, more actors such as John Lithgow, Janet McTeer, Paapa Essiedu, Nick Frost, Luke Thallon, and Paul Whitehouse would also be part of the upcoming show.
According to Variety’s report, filming is expected to begin this summer. The book series’ author, J.K. Rowling, will executive produce the show, alongside its Francesca Gardiner, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts, and more.
Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint’s portrayal of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley, respectively, in the “Harry Potter” film franchise launched the actors into worldwide stardom in the early 2000s.
