Michael Gambon, known as Albus Dumbledore in the award-winning movie series Harry Potter, has passed away at the age of 82.
In a Facebook post on Friday, the Harry Potter official page expressed grief over the passing of Gambon.
"We are incredibly saddened to hear of the passing of Sir Michael Gambon. He brought immeasurable joy to Harry Potter fans from all over the world with his humour, kindness and grace. We will forever hold his memory in our hearts," the post read.
The Irish-British actor died of pneumonia.
His death was confirmed by his relatives.
Gambon started his acting career as one of the original members of the Royal National Theatre. He was hired by English actor and director Laurence Olivier.
Over his six-decade-long career, he received three Olivier Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and four BAFTA Awards.
