

Typhoon Gorio has further strengthened as it approaches southern Taiwan for its expected landfall, according to the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (DOST-PAGASA).
As of 11:00 a.m of August 13, Gorio is forecast to move west northwestward for the entirety of the forecast period, and may landfall over the eastern coast of southern Taiwan. The typhoon may exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this afternoon or evening.
Gorio is packing maximum sustained winds of 155 km/h and gustiness of up to 215 km/h, and central pressure of 955 hPa.
It was moving westward at 25 km/h with strong typhoon-force winds that extended outward up to 400 km from the center.
According to DOST-PAGASA, the center of the storm was last spotted 160 kilometers north of Itbayat, Batanes, at 10:00 AM. The storm is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this afternoon or evening.
Wind Signal No. 2 remains in effect over Itbayat, while the rest of Batanes is still under Wind Signal No. 1.
