

A fire broke out in a residential area behind the Nuebe de Febrero Elementary School, Blk 27, Barangay Addition Hills, Mandaluyong City on Saturday noon, July 5.
According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the fire was reported at 11:21 a.m. and first alarm was confirmed by 11:24 a.m.
The fire spread rapidly due to the tightly packed houses in the area, prompted to raised at second alarm at 11:33 a.m. Later escalated it to the third alarm at 11:40 a.m. and to the fourth alarm by 12:49 p.m.
The fire was declared under control at 2:30 p.m.
As of 4:00 p.m., initial reports stated that seven people were injured including a 60-year-old female, who has stage 4 throat cancer, was found unconscious.
No fatalities were reported as of now.
Moreover, a total of seventeen BFP firetrucks were deployed to the area.
Authorities have yet to confirm the number of affected families and the extent of structural damage.
Investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
