

The remains of the missing farmer were finally retrieved in Sablan, Benguet, on Thursday, August 14, 2025, after three weeks of intensive search efforts.
The farmer was reported missing after a landslide occurred in Sitio Talinguroy, Barangay Wangal, La Trinidad, Benguet, on July 25, 2025, due to typhoons and the southwest monsoon, which triggered floods and landslides across the city.
The body was discovered in Bantogey, Banengbeng, Sablan, Benguet. A barangay tanod named Sherwin Sholin found it stuck under a rock by the river and immediately reported it to the authorities.
Based on the report, the decomposing body was identified through the victim's hair and a known deformity on his left foot. The said victim was identified as Nardo Cariño by his son, Epher Julian Cariño.
The search and rescue operations involved various teams, including the La Trinidad Municipal Police Station (MPS), Benguet 2nd provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), Wangal BLGU, La Trinidad BFP, La Trinidad MDRRMO, the Philippine Red Cross-Benguet Chapter, the Philippine Army, members of other government agencies, relatives, and other civilian volunteers.
