Leyte 4th District Representative Richard “Goma” Gomez took to social media his grievances towards an unnamed city mayor who raises corruption allegations against him and his fellow congress members.
“It doesn’t surprise me anymore that this so-called “clean” mayor is throwing accusations of corruption at us congressmen,” Leyte 4th District Rep. Richard Gomez said on his Facebook post.
“You talk nonstop about corruption in Congress, why? Because it’s an easy headline?” Gomez added.
Furthermore, the actor-turned-lawmaker claims that the issue was not entirely about corruption but rather a political feud between the unnamed mayor and their district’s congressman.
“Corruption has become the easiest issue to ride on nowadays, but let’s be honest, I don’t think this is all about corruption. If this is about his own congressman, who happens to bring in more projects for his district than he can for his city, don’t include all of us,” Gomez argued in his post.
The actor-politician also mentioned that the unnamed mayor should prioritize his own city’s problems instead which allegedly involves worsening air quality, poor public transport, broken waste disposal system, illegal structures, overpopulation, and poor urban planning.
“Maybe it’s time to fix your own house first before pointing fingers at others. Mahiya ka naman,” the Leyte Representative concluded in his statement.
Meanwhile, netizens were quick to comment that Gomez’s remarks were aimed at Baguio City Mayor Benjamin “Benjie” Magalong who has been known to be vocal about irregularities in the congress.
Mayor Magalong is yet to issue a response to his alleged connection to Leyte Rep. Gomez’s online post.
