Dr. Rontgene Solante believes that the Philippines can still administer eight to nine million booster shots against the 2019 Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) before President Rodrigo Duterte steps down on June 30.
Solante, a member of the Department of Science and Technology - Vaccine Experts Panel, said on Wednesday, May 11, that the rollout of COVID-19 booster shots slowed down due to election activities and the campaign period.
"Since tututukan ulit natin iyan sa Department of Health (DOH) na paigtingin natin iyong adbokasiya natin na importante ang boosters especially preparing for another surge siguro ay tataas ulit ang uptake ng mga bakuna, and I’m sure of that," Solante said during the Laging Handa press briefing.
As of Wednesday, the DOH said that the government has administered a total of 13,518,456 booster doses.
