The Philippines' daily average of COVID-19 cases went up by 8.8% from May 23 to 29, according to the Department of Health (DOH) on Monday.

During the past week, DOH said the country reported 1,317 new COVID-19 cases, with the daily average at 188, up from the previous 173 from May 16 to 22.

There are also 12 new severe and critical cases, according to the DOH, with no new additional deaths reported during the said period.

As of May 29, the Philippines has 679 severe and critical COVID-19 admissions, said the DOH, equivalent to 12.3% of the total COVID-19 admissions.

A total of 4,073 or 17.2% of the total non-ICU beds are also being used, while 459 or 16.8% of the 2,730 ICU beds are currently utilized, said the DOH.

Vaccinations

Meanwhile, the DOH said a total of 69,302,485 individuals are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including the 259,947 people who completed their shots between May 23 to 29.

A total of 14,100,743 people, on the other hand, had taken the booster shots as of May 29.

Overall, 77% of the government's target population have completed their vaccine shots, while 77.29% of the target senior citizen population are now fully immunized against COVID-19.
